The Imperial XL features a 60,000 BTU stainless steel Dual-Tube burner system that's complemented by a 15,000 BTU stainless steel rear rotisserie burner with graduated ports along the entire length to ensures even flame height for consistent roasting. Additionally, the Imperial XL includes a 10,000 BTU cast brass side burner that enables you to create mouth-watering side dishes, soups, and sauces while you grill. This version of the Imperial XL is fueled by liquid propane, and it's also available in a natural gas model.
Stylishly appointed yet durably constructed, the Imperial XL offers a stainless steel hood panel with double-lined cast aluminum end caps in addition to its stainless steel oven, control panel, and side shelves. It includes two pull-out utility drawers plus an additional tall pull-out drawer for more storage. With the flip of a switch the heavy-duty locking swivel casters keep your grill stationary and stable. And thanks to the built-in oven lights, you'll be able to see what you are grilling -- even at midnight.
The Sure-Lite ignition system starts your grilling session with the push of a button, and the exterior includes an easy-to-read stainless steel thermometer with a probe that reaches deep into the oven, giving you a more accurate temperature reading.
Massive Stainless Steel Cooking Grid
The Imperial XL's cooking grid is split between a large oven with 500 square inches of solid stainless steel cooking grids and a small oven with 225 square inches of heavy duty cast iron cooking grids. The stainless steel cooking grids are made of heavy gauge rods. The high quality steel ensures excellent heat retention and long lasting durability, and they're easy to clean. The smaller oven's cast iron grid is reversible -- one side is pointed to give you perfect grill marks, while the other side is grooved to capture juices for continuous basting while cooking. With a little care, they will last a lifetime.
Stainless Steel Dual-Tube Burners
Broil King's patented burner technology ensures a consistent flame from front to back, providing even and efficient heat distribution at the cooking surface and eliminating hot and cold spots. The Imperial 490 includes four Dual-Tube burners.
